Why hire a professional organizer?

Organizing can be defined as: “The art of arranging the elements in your life to achieve your goal.”

With that in mind, the assistance of a professional organizer can help you:

  • Reduce clutter and release negative energy.
  • Achieve more in less time and therefore be more productive.
  • Reduce anxiety from feeling overwhelmed.
  • Increase your self confidence and gain self control.
  • Find things faster.
  • Meet important deadlines.
  • Improve family relationships by having more time for fun and do the things you enjoy.

A professional organizer can guide you through the process and provide you with the tips and tools to achieve a more organized and productive live.

It is important to note that you must have a real desire to change your life patterns and commit to the task ahead. Otherwise you will not be able to maintain the new system for too long and you will end up going back to your original patterns.

Your stuff is a compass
Your stuff is a compass, and it guides you to places within yourself that needs ACCEPTANCE, HEALING, SUPPORT, COMPASSION, & FORGIVENESS.

Once you reconcile with yourself, it’s easier for you to look at an object and be like: “Ok, this is what it is”, as opposed to: “This is what it represents”.

Example 1

For instance, an old concert ticket stub is not taking up too much space, but it was from a show that you saw with your ex., therefore, it might be taking up residence in your mind, so it might be time to let it go.

Example 2

Clothes might be sentimental, but do you actually have the space to keep said items? What is the likelihood that you will ever use the item? If both answers are yes, you get to keep it.

SUGGESTION: Take a photo of it or journaling about why it was special to you before your part away.

REMEMBER: Bringing something to a consignment shop or donation doesn’t have to be sad, think about how the piece will make someone else feel.

Create the habit of making your bed in the morning
I always tell my clients to create a habit of making their beds in the morning.

And why?

For many reasons, but mainly because if you want to have your space looking nicer and organized (and the bed takes up practically the most space in a room) then why not start with the bed?

I read this article called “The Six Morning Routines that Will Make You Happier, Healthier and More Productive” and heard some other reasons, here they are:

Making your bed

Brushing your teeth

Showering

Shaving

Doing makeup

Pressing your clothes

These are all little tasks that can put you in good form for the rest of your day.

Such morning routines were pretty much expected a generation or two ago, but nowadays many people skip out on some of these steps as the culture has become looser.

An advantage of this more traditional routine is that in putting your house and appearance in order, you put your mind in order as well. As one admiral William H. McRaven put it, “if by chance you have a miserable day, you will come home to a bed that is made — that you made — and a made bed gives you encouragement that tomorrow will be better.”

Recommended for: Creating a sense of order and dignity in your day. Giving you a foundation of meticulousness and conscientiousness to approach your later tasks.
